![]() ![]() ![]() Terence served as the executive editor of the then-new Astronomy magazine in 19. In 1970, he became assistant director of the Strasenburgh Planetarium in Rochester, New York. His professional career took off in 1968 when he became a staff astronomer and teacher at the McLaughlin Planetarium of the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. Terence’s interest in astronomy began when he was only five years old, when he saw a shooting star streak across the sky. “Standing under a starry canopy and giving himself over to the mystique and immensity of it all, Terry was lifted out of himself, freed from the distractions of daily living.” “He spent countless tranquil hours exploring the night sky from his observatory, listening to the spring peepers early in the season and, in summer, the quiet nickers of our horses as they moved about the pasture,” writes Susan in an online memorial. ![]() Terence Dickinson, Canadian astronomer and author of numerous popular books on astronomy, passed away February 1, 2023, at age 79, after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
